Sometimes when I review a product, I wonder “did I put it through the paces?” But in this case, my review of Biossance’s Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream is as well tested as it comes. I’ve went through no less than 6 or 7 jars of this stuff for myself, and purchased a handful for my mom & sisters to use as well. Here’s why this stands out to me:
- Biossance is known for clean formulas which is what I prefer for my skincare, especially eye products, as my eyes are quite sensitive.
- Eye products are notoriously expensive, easily going into triple digits for a small amount of product. This 15ml/0.5oz pot of eye cream though retails for $56, which comparatively is a great value for what it delivers.
- Beyond being clean, this eye cream has the perfect airy cream texture for an eye product that is nicely moisturizing without being overly thick/rich. I think this quality is perhaps more important than any newfangled active in making the eyes feel good.
- Good actives: Squalane is naturally nourishing and replenishes good skin oils, which is important because the skin around the eyes don’t produce much sebum naturally, which is why they’re easily tired and tight feeling. Marine Algae and Paracress Extract provide the anti-aging measure as they lift and firm the skin, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. There is also astaxanthin, which is one of my favorite antioxidant actives in skincare.
- There are no essential oils, nor fragrances, which is important to me for an eye product as they can irritate my eyes.
My thoughts
It’s no small feat when I say, with Biossance’s Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream, everything is done just right. The silken creamy is quick absorbing, and gorgeous (just look at it in its creamy goodness!), while delivering the perfect amount of moisturization that satiates the eye area without ever the risk of any heaviness. It’s just so effortless, and feels nice.
My under eye area especially benefited the most from the eye cream as I could see the faint formation of fine lines start to lessen after just a few overnight uses. Miraculously, they even looked more faint the next morning, which is usually when the fine lines look their worst. Additionally, where my under eye area can sometimes feel tight, and easily tug, this cream gave it a nice slip. I had to check the ingredients list to see if it was a genuine textural improvement, or if it was something temporary like a silicone that was doing this, and I’m glad to confirm it’s the real deal.

Water (Aqua), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, Glycerin, Sorbitan Olivate, Cetearyl Olivate, Jojoba Esters, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Panthenol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Cetyl Palmitate, Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Sorbitan Palmitate, Dunaliella Salina Extract, Astaxanthin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tocopherol, Citric Acid.
As expected, the ingredients are clean, and quite nice. Much of it is olive-derived, which I like a lot. I’m also happy to see there is a peptide, which helps with overall anti-aging measures. And the preservatives are pretty gentle for a water-based cream. Overall, I’m pretty happy with this eye cream, and there isn’t anything to complain about. $56 is a good value.
