Lina Hanson | Global Beauty

Lina Hanson is an inspiring woman whose line of skincare reflects her personal devotion to using products that benefit the world using mother nature’s intended gifts to bestow the best in beauty. She’s most often introduced as a celebrity make-up artist, but that’s really just the tip of the iceberg for her credentials. To get an idea of a day in her life, just watch this sweet and touching video she recently shot with The Grind.

Lina Hanson’s products are a pure reflection of the woman behind the brand. Having used the Global Face and Body Serums, I can best describe them the same way I would describe Lina herself: happy, exotic, gentle and sweet.

Lina Hanson’s Global Face Serum was the first product she introduced. It is known for it’s use of globally sourced oils including African Baobab, Marula, Argan and Frankinscence which protect skin from dryness and keeps skin healthy. There is also brazil nut which smoothes skin and camellia seed which is said to brighten skin. Mandarin and Neroli are added in for their ability to balance skin and also compose the fragrance of the serum which I would describe as sexy and citrusy. What I love about the ingredients is that the blend contains some of the star oils such as Marula, Argan and Camellia Seed each wonderful oils on their own.

The color of this serum is a light golden hue that reminds me of marula oil samples I had received once as a Gift With Purchase. The texture is on the thicker side as far as face oils go, similar to Dr. Alkaitis’ Nourishing Oil and ila Face Oil. But similarly I have not experienced any breakouts or congestion. Due to it’s texture I found myself using it along in the evenings without a moisturizer during the more humid summer months and as we go into winter, I’ll use it as part of my “dry skin free” winter arsenal. Although my skin is prone to breakouts, it is also prone to dryness (and I notice it has become less oily and more dry as I’ve aged/transitioned to water-free skincare) and this serum managed to keep my skin happily quenched and acne free. If you’re oily with breakouts, a smaller amount may be all you need. The scent is something I’ve touched on but I think it does have wonderful aromatherapy benefits because it simultaneously makes me feel relaxed and brighter in mood.

Lina Hanson’s Global Body Serum is a sweet, happy orange cream of a body oil. Putting it on makes me want to burst into a pop song about candy, lollipops and everything sugary sweet. It’s what I imagine to be a day walking the Venice boardwalk and eating cotton candy and orange sorbet would feel like.

Like the Global Face Serum, this Body Serum also globally sources the 10 oils used: Rice Bran Oil, Avocado Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Argan Oil, Brazil Nut Oil, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Camellia Seed Oil, Grapefruit Oil, Vanilla Oil and Yuzu Oil. I think it is the blend of Yuzu, Grapefruit and Vanilla that gives this oil it’s orange cream dreaminess of a frangrance while rice bran, avocado, brazil nut no doubt give the oil it’s tremendous moisturizing capabilities.

The Global Body Serum claims to deeply nourish and it does just that. The texture is thicker than other body oils I’ve used which is reflected in the absorption time as well as the very moisturizing smoothness inducing results the morning after applying this serum over arms and legs. I particularly love to apply this to dry elbows after showering and notice it works better than cream moisturizers in providing longer term relief from roughness and dryness. I find it to be a delicious treat for my skin as I unwind from the day and drift into sleep.

Lina Hanson

I have to say, what I really love about this line is the overall message of global celebration, sustainable sourcing and a beautiful soul injecting her spirit into each oil blend. It makes me feel all the things a Lina Hanson woman should feel: kind, compassionate, impassioned and beautiful.

Have you had the chance to try this line? Tell me what you think!

I had my eye on the body serum for a while, but now that I know it is thicker and different than most body oils I will definitely have to give it a try. My skin is in desperate need of moisture already and winter isn’t even here yet!

I’ve been using the global face serum for a week now at night before bed. Sometimes the next morning I felt a little irritation and had some redness, especially on my cheeks. Today though the it’s more of a burning sensation that has not subsized all day noe the redness. The global serum is the only new product I’ve used and everything else in my routine is the same. I have sensitive skin that tends towards dry/dehydrated as we head into fall/winter. Is it possible that some of the essential oils in this serum can be irritating to my skin?
